This is an endemic species that lives in the coastal area of Peru, its preferred habitats being meadows and open spaces on mountains and semi-desert ecosystems. It has brown plumage on the head, back and wings while the throat, breast and belly are cream-coloured. Its beak is black. It can reach up to 19 cm in length.
It can be seen all year round although it is easier to spot in the wet season (from June to December), usually hopping on the ground in rocky areas. You can spot it in the area around El Puquial.
The bird can be seen all year round as it is an endemic species to the coastal areas of Peru.
