We will start in Lima. From there, the capital of the Inca Empire, Cusco, awaits, where we will appreciate the historic city and the nearby archaeological remains. We will spend an emotion-filled day visiting the citadel of Machu Picchu. The trip will continue to the "city of eternal spring", Trujillo, where we will be enchanted by its mysterious archaeological remains and beautiful beaches. Finally, we will explore the city of Chiclayo and its archaeological vestiges.

The package includes:

  • All airport / hotel / station transfers, and vice versa, in shared vehicle.
  • Shared bus line Trujillo - Chiclayo.
  • Train, Vistadome (Perurail) category, according to availability, between Ollantaytambo / Machu Picchu / Ollantaytambo in shared service. This section takes an hour and a half (there will be no tour guide for this stretch, since they will be waiting in the town of Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes).
  • 8-night stay in bed and breakfast accommodation according to the chosen category.
  • Excursions and visits specified in the itinerary in shared service.
  • Local guides during excursions and assistance throughout the tour.
  • 24-hour assistance during your stay in Peru, in addition to airport assistance for connection with your international flight back to your country of departure.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Lima

Introduction at the airport of departure. Flight to Lima. Reception at Jorge Chávez International Airport and transfer to the selected hotel. Accommodation.

Day 2: City Tour: Colonial and Modern + Archaeological Museum

Breakfast. Visit to the Historical Center: Guided tour of the Cathedral, panoramic visit to the Convents of Santo Domingo and San Francisco, tour of the Plaza Mayor and Plaza San Martín. Tour of the residential neighborhoods of San Isidro and Miraflores. Visit to the Archaeological Museum, where archaeological pieces worked in metals and textiles, from the various Peruvian cultures that preceded the Incas, are exhibited. Rest of the afternoon free. An opportunity to sample renowned Peruvian gastronomy; visit the Barranco neighborhood, the birthplace of poets and writers (part of the literary route of Mario Vargas Llosa); or continue with the tour to more of the capital's attractions. Accommodation in the selected hotel.

Day 3: Lima / Cusco: City Tour + Nearby Ruins

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for the flight that will take us to Cusco. Arrival, reception and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, a tour of the city, the Cathedral and the "Koricancha" or Temple of the Sun, where the Convent of Santo Domingo still stands. From there, we will ascend to the upper part of the city to visit the nearby ruins, where Sacsayhuaman, a ceremonial fortress of monumental stones, Q'enqo, a ceremonial and ritual center where sacrifices were made, and Tambomachay, a temple for worshiping the Dios Agua (Water God). Panoramic view of Puka-Pukará, an old settlement or guard post along the Inca roads. Return to the hotel. Accommodation in the selected hotel.

Day 4: Cusco / Machu Picchu / Cusco

Breakfast. Early morning transfer to the train station. Travel to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we will take the bus to climb to Machu Picchu. Guided tour of the archaeological site ("Second round" tour, from 12:00 pm). In the afternoon, return to Aguas Calientes. Train back to Cusco. Transportation to the hotel. Accommodation in the selected hotel.

Note: In order to make the most of your time at the archaeological site, lunch is not included on this day. It can be arranged directly at the end of the tour, if confirmed during the morning program, or before the tour if the tour of the site is scheduled for the afternoon.

Day 5: Cusco / Lima / Trujillo or Cusco / Trujillo

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport to take the scheduled flight back to Lima and connect with the flight to the city of Trujillo. Arrival, assistance and transfer to the selected hotel. Free time to begin exploring this welcoming colonial city. Accommodation.

Note: You can opt to fly directly to Trujillo from the city of Cusco. Flights depart 3 times per week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. - We suggest adding 1 more day to your trip to include the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Cusco.

Day 6: Trujillo: Sun and Moon Temples - Chan Chan - Huanchaco

Breakfast. Visit to the Temple of the Moon, continuing on to "Templo Arco Iris" (Rainbow Temple), or "Huaca del Dragón", from where you will reach the imposing archaeological complex of Chan Chan. After visiting the mud citadel, the excursion ends in Huanchaco, an ancestral fishermen's cove where we will admire the ancient Mochica boats known as "Caballitos de Totora", with which the thousand-year-old tradition of artisan fishing is maintained. Return to the hotel. Accommodation.

Day 7: Trujillo: Free / Chiclayo

Breakfast. Free morning. To continue with the tour of the city. Transfer to the bus station at the scheduled time to take the bus to the city of Chiclayo. Arrival in Chiclayo and accommodation.

Note: This leg of the journey can be made privately, visiting the "El Brujo" archaeological complex en route, where you can check out the Huaca de Cao and its site museum. You can admire the recent discovery of a female figure from the Moche elite, known as "The Lady of Cao". Continue to Chiclayo. Transportation to the hotel. Check supplement.

Day 8: Chiclayo: Sicán - Túcume - Royal Tombs of Sipán / Chiclayo / Lima

Breakfast. Full-day excursion visiting the interesting Sicán Museum in Ferreñafe, following the extensive archaeological complex of Túcume, built by the nation that is identified with Sicán or Lambayeque. It is believed that this impressive archaeological site was founded by Naymlap, a mythical hero who came from the sea in a fleet of ships, with his court, servants and military force. The pyramids were residential palaces inhabited by an aristocratic elite who devoted themselves mainly to agriculture, making the valley the largest hydraulic complex on the coast. We will end with a visit to the modern Royal Tombs of Sipán Museum in the town of Lambayeque. Return to Chiclayo. Transfer to the airport to fly to Lima. Arrival and shuttle to hotel. Accommodation.

Day 9: Lima / City of Departure

Breakfast. Free transfer to the airport to take the scheduled flight back to the city of departure.

  • Excursions that are not mentioned or are stated as optional, entrance fees to museums, monuments and others NOT mentioned in the program.

Important note:

  • These packages have been calculated on the basis of regular travel seasons. They do NOT apply to travel during "high occupancy" periods, such as Carnivals, Easter, national holidays, long weekends, Christmas, New Year or any other high occupancy period. If the traveler decides to travel during these high season dates, a new quote will be made reflecting the corresponding price increase.

  • In the event that COLUMBIA TOURS encounters difficulties in the delivery of a contracted or similar service, COLUMBIA TOURS absolutely disclaims all responsibility and will only refund the value paid for it. COLUMBIA TOURS is not responsible for any problem with the airline and COLUMBIA TOURS is not responsible for changes and/or cancellations of itineraries by the airlines that affect the land portion once the services are confirmed.
  • If the traveler does not show up on the day of the trip (is a "NO SHOW"), there will be no refund or change of date for travel for any reason. Other restrictions apply.
