Five destinations in Peru to go on vacation
There’s nothing better than travel to relax and disconnect from routine. It’s even better if that place is a paradise for people who love culture, the beach, nature and adventure: Peru has it all. And the best thing is that you don't need to go far to find totally diverse experiences. Thinking about that next, much awaited, trip that you have surely been planning for several months, we recommend five destinations to go on vacation during your next trip to Peru.
The "White City" shines, with a sunny climate and a blue sky which invite you to walk and admire the beauty of its monuments, snow-capped mountains, countryside, volcanoes and deep canyons. Arequipa is famous for its natural diversity, which makes it one of the most beautiful and varied cities in all of Peru. Thus, its deep canyons, such as the Cotahuasi and the Colca, and its wonderful beaches, coves and snow-capped mountains, find a surprising point of convergence in its historical, religious and ancestral legacy, making it a place that is unique in the whole continent.
Beaches of Áncash
Áncash is famous for its snow-capped mountains, trekking routes and impressive archaeological complexes. However, this diverse department also has some of the most beautiful beaches on the Peruvian coast: Tuquillo, with calm waters and soft sand; Maracaná, famous for its waves which are ideal for surfing; La Gramita, capital of boat fishing and the Tortugas spa, with calm and crystal clear waters, are just some of the coastal attractions offered by Áncash.
The dazzling Amazon
In the Amazon region, Mother Nature surprises us with the majesty of her most spectacular works. This department is home to two of the most charming jewels of our country: the imposing Gocta waterfall – a waterfall that is 2500 feet high – and the impressive archaeological area of Kuélap, a city built by the Chachapoyas civilization on top of the mountains. Surrounded by forests, with imposing stone walls to protect it, the Kuélap citadel can be visited through a modern cable car system.

Betania, a jewel in the Central Jungle
The natural pools of the Native Community of Betania are a little-known attraction of the lush central jungle. Located in the Tambo River district (Satipo, Junín), these captivating jungle oases hypnotize visitors with their incomparable beauty. As if that weren't enough, they are surrounded by a lush jungle vegetation that makes this experience an unforgettable adventure.
Canta: find the sun a few hours from Lima
One of the greatest charms of this destination, which is located in the mountains of Lima, is its climate. Hot and sunny all year round, Canta has major natural and cultural attractions. If history is your thing, you will find the Checta Petroglyphs fascinating. This group of zoomorphic, anthropomorphic, abstract and geometric figures engraved on stones dates from 500 A.D., and can be found at mile 37 on the Lima - Canta highway, in Santa Rosa de Quives. In this last place you can visit the Santa Rosa de Lima hermitage, an ideal place for hiking and horseback riding. Finally, the archaeological site of Cantamarca – a pre-Inca stone citadel located 10.5 miles east of Canta – is an unmissable destination for history lovers.
