Huancavelica
Built in the 17th century, the church's front is truly impressive due to the contrast between its white prism-shaped towers and the baroque-style façade, crafted in Indian red volcanic rock. The interior is dominated by the altar decorated in the baroque style, and the pulpit and side altars covered in gold leaf are standout features. There are also beautiful paintings from the Cuzco and Huamanga schools.

Huancavelica
The church, built in 1774, is preserved almost intact despite the earthquakes it has had to endure. With a mixed style, as with most of the Andean temples, the baroque altarpieces, carved in wood and covered in gold leaf, are outstanding. A real highlight is the altar dedicated to San Francisco (St Francis). The convent has been the source of popular legends, like the story of the “headless priest,” who is supposedly the ghost of a Franciscan priest who hanged himself in one of the convent cells and walks through the building at night, ringing the church bells. The esplanade in front of the church is the setting for the "Danzantes de Tijeras" (Dance of the Scissors) contest on 24 and 25 December, as well as for the "Adoration of the Three Kings".

Huancavelica
Built in the 16th century, the site is the centre of worship of the Virgin of the Rosary and Santo Domingo, whose images were brought here from Rome. According to legend, the church was connected by secret passages to the San Francisco Temple. A portrait of Señor de la Sentencia y Resurrección (Our Lord of the Sentence and Resurrection), painted in 1666, is a highlight. The adoration of the Niño Dulce Nombre de Jesus (Child with the Sweet Name of Jesus) is held in front of the main facade in January, a feast that is celebrated for two days with several dances, of which the dance of the "negritos" is a highlight.
