Watching Whales and Other Marine Mammals
A group of islands, including San Lorenzo, El Frontón, Cabinzas and Palomino, are all included in the tour that leaves from Peru's main port, Callao. On the way to the islands, a great variety of marine birds greet the passing ships.
Visits to Palomino island are truly unique due to the large population of sea lions found in the area, both on the shores as well as in the sea. The opportunity to swim in the cold water next to these harmless marine mammals make this visit an unforgettable experience.
Various companies offer complete tours that include all the safety equipment, a guide, snacks and wetsuits (neoprene) necessary to spend time with sea lions in their habitat. Trips begin at 10:00 am and last 3 hours.
