The prestigious international culinary guide, TasteAtlas, made a list of the 150 most legendary restaurants in the world, and two Peruvian restaurants are included: El Bolivariano and Astrid & Gastón.
In the case of El Bolivariano, TasteAtlas recommends trying their lomo saltado. As for Astrid & Gastón, their cebiche is the standout dish according to the international guide.
“These are not just places to grab a meal, but destinations in their own right, comparable to the world’s most famous museums, galleries and monuments. Each one has withstood the test of time, eschewing trendy gimmicks in favor of traditional, high-quality cuisine.”, explains this important international gastronomic portal.
Furthermore, it emphatically adds, "Bypassing any of these distinct culinary or cultural landmarks means missing out on a quintessential aspect of each city’s vibrant tapestry of history, tradition, and local flavor.”
Astrid & Gastón
A renowned restaurant in Lima, led by Astrid Gutsche and Gastón Acurio, opened its doors in 1994. Currently, it is located in the exclusive district of San Isidro, at the Casa Hacienda Moreyra, dating back to the 17th century.
Their new menu has dishes that recall traditional preparations inspired by Gastón Acurio’s childhood, without forgetting the touch of modernity.

One of their flagship dishes, in addition to cebiche, is the famous cuy pekín (smoked guinea pig served on purple corn crepes). Moreover, they offer an extensive dessert menu, which is Astrid Gutsche's specialty.
El Bolivariano
This restaurant is located in the traditional Lima district of Pueblo Libre and was founded in 1990. The estate where El Bolivariano now stands was built in 1870, and up to now, every detail of the original ambiance is carefully maintained, creating the perfect setting to enjoy delicious and traditional Peruvian creole cuisine.
This iconic establishment offers typical dishes from ancient Peruvian cuisine such as lechón al cilindro, anticuchos, lomo saltado, ají de gallina, sancochado and cebiche. Additionally, it offers Pisco cocktails.
