If you are planning to visit the mystical Historic Sanctuary of Machupicchu in 2023, securing your entry tickets in advance is vital. You have two ways to acquire them: purchasing them online via the official website or buying them in person in Machupicchu Pueblo. Here are the available options to help you plan your visit effectively:

Virtual purchase through the official website

The only official website to purchase entry tickets is www.machupicchu.gob.pe. Here, you can choose the date, time, route, and the quantity of tickets you want to buy. As the final step, you can complete the payment on the same platform. Note that the reservation remains valid for 5 hours for payment processing; if the time is surpassed, a new reservation must be made.

Before selecting the date and time to visit the Llaqta of Machupicchu, ensure to confirm with your chosen mode of transportation (whether train or bus) the time you will arrive at the town of Machupicchu. Consider the duration needed to commute to the access point (Bus Consetur) as the tickets are only valid for the chosen time slot.

In-person purchase in Machupicchu Pueblo

The ticket offices at the Ministry of Culture's Cultural Center in Machupicchu Pueblo offer 1000 tickets for direct purchase, situated at Av. Pachacútec block 1 s/n. To obtain these tickets, people need to present valid ID or passport a day prior to the visit, available from Monday through Sunday, specifically between 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

It is important to note that it is not possible to buy a ticket and visit Machupicchu on the same day of arrival at Machupicchu pueblo. Therefore, you must stay at least one night in that location. The choice of visiting hours and circuits is subject to the visitor's arrival order and space availability. The availability of tickets for the Machupicchu Cultural Center can be checked at this link.

Circuits

Four designated circuits exist to guide visitors in Machupicchu: https://www.machupicchu.gob.pe/circuitos-establecidos/. These routes have been carefully planned to avoid the massive concentration of tourists, aiming to protect the archaeological site and to ensure the safety of its visitors. These paths extend throughout the ancient Inka city, starting from the park's entry point and covering Machupicchu's most significant areas.

The Ministry of Culture of Cusco has established the distribution of circuits as follows:

For those who acquire the "Llaqta de Machupicchu" ticket, they have the flexibility to choose among circuits 1, 2, 3, or 4 upon entering the Inka citadel of Machupicchu.

Visitors who reserve the "Circuit 4 + Waynapicchu Mountain" or "Circuit 4 + Huchuypicchu Mountain" tickets can only follow Circuit 4 within the Inka citadel of Machupicchu, as well as visiting the chosen mountains.

Holders of the "Machupicchu Mountain + Circuit 3" ticket are exclusively designated to follow Circuit 3 within the Inka citadel of Machupicchu, along with the mountain visit.

Visitors intending to explore more than one circuit should obtain additional tickets. It's important to remember that with the exception of the "Machu Picchu Mountain + Circuit 3" ticket, re-entry to Machu Picchu is not allowed, as the visit comprises several hours, and entry tickets cannot be purchased at the archaeological site entrance.
