Museums in Lima, meeting point for experts and the cosmopoli

The best way to understand the history of Peru is by visiting Lima’s museums, where the cultural heritage of the nation is conserved.

Some of the best collections from the pre-Hispanic period are held by the National Museum of Anthropology, Archaeology and History, the Larco Museum and the Amano Museum; the Lima Museum of Art (MALI) houses an overview of the nation’s artistic legacy; and the MAC and MATE (the latter displays the work of the Peruvian photographer Mario Testino) are excellent options for those interested in contemporary art. Simply unmissable.
