This city is characterized by its mild and warm climate and is the preferred destination for nature and adventure lovers, as it is the starting point for many outdoor activities.

Here are some of the most frequented places to experience adventure sports.

Ahuashiyacu and Huacamaillo Waterfalls

Tarapoto is home to numerous waterfalls, and reaching them is the perfect reason to go trekking through the extensive vegetation of the high jungle, predominantly composed of orchids and ferns, accompanied by its typical fauna, standing out various species of butterflies and birds..

Among the most well-known waterfalls, we can mention Ahuashiyacu, with a 40-meter waterfall, and Huacamaillo, with a 20-meter waterfall.

Blue Lagoon

This is perhaps one of the most visited destinations by tourists who come to this region to know about its beauty, biodiversity, and climate.

It is a beautiful five-kilometer-long lagoon with warm waters, where you can spend a peaceful day with your family on the shore. It is also an ideal scenario for water sports such as canopying, kayaking, paddleboarding, jet skiing, among others.

Ricuricocha Lagoon

A natural depression formed by rain, it is home to more than 65 species of birds typical of the region. Small-height trees are part of its vegetation, and in the surroundings, you can find a restaurant, a hammock area, and a small zoo.

Due to its winding and uneven geography, it has become a paradise for mountain biking enthusiasts of different categories.

Talliquihui Waterfall

This waterfall is approximately 15 meters high. Its warm waters refresh visitors from the typical heat of the area, and the landscape dazzles the eyes with its unique flora and fauna.

Its trails invite you to take relaxing walks, but if you seek adrenaline, you can do rappel down through the dry surface or the water path.

Mayo River

The Mayo River is a tributary of the Huallaga River that flows from north to southeast in the San Martin region. It is surrounded by beautiful Amazonian landscapes.

Tarapoto will always be a destination for adventure by nature, as it has all the necessary elements and more for that. So, if you are looking to connect with nature in its fullest splendor and have an unforgettable experience, this is the ideal place for you.
