Peru’s minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) Magali Silva Velarde-Álvarez reported that the seventh Fiexpo Latin America, held this year, generated business deals totaling 231,840,000 dollars, a 10% increase over the previous year.

Peru’s goal is to lead regional growth in the meetings tourism sector and reach the milestone of 100 international meetings by 2016, a goal it is closing in on. Peruvian operators held 160 business appointments, a 40% increase over the amounts negotiated in 2014.

"This year, 138 international buyers, called hosted buyers, attended Fiexpo, which is ten percent more than the previous year. Of that group, 70% were visiting Peru for the first time. There were also 824 trade visitors present, 58% more than in 2014," said the minister. Maintaining and strengthening the strategic alliance between public and private sectors to share knowledge, experiences and innovations is the best way for Peru to continue to achieve good results and become a great destination for meetings tourism.
