A deserved award for Perú. This time, the recognition was from the prestigious AFAR magazine. Machu Picchu won as the best destination in the UNESCO World Heritage category, in a vote carried out online.
AFAR, with an audience of more than 1 million people on his printed magazine, promotes travels between his readers, that are usually influential people with purchasing power, as well as travelers of all economic means. Now, the palace of rocks and stones is the focus of attention: Machu Picchu was chosen one of the 13 destinations that you cannot miss during 2020 at the AFAR 2019 Travelers Choice Awards.
At the 2018 awards, Machu Picchu (along the coast of Trujillo and the district of Miraflores in Lima) was part of the tour ‘Around the World: A Private Jet Expedition’, winner of the award ‘Best over-the-top experiences’, which also visited countries like Jordan and Cambodia, among others, on a luxury excursion.
That same year, ‘The Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu’, which promotes physical activity as an attraction, it was among the five finalists in the ‘Best Hiking and Walking’ of the AFAR 2018 Travelers Choice Awards.
