Peru placed third in the Top Country category at the annual “Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2018” held by British travel magazine Wanderlust. Attendees at the London ceremony included representatives from different countries, airlines, tour operators and tourism professionals.
The top destinations of the Wanderlust awards are picked by more than 2000 of the magazine’s readers, who are expert travelers. Canada and New Zealand were voted first and second, respectively. The print edition, which comes out in April, contains the full list of winners.
In recent years, Peru has attracted ample attention from British media. The Amazonas region was brought to life for millions of viewers through BBC documentaries, and Choquequirao was named the best region to visit in 2017 by Lonely Planet, the world’s largest travel guide publisher. National Geographic Traveller also named Kuélap as the best Far & Away - Overseas Attraction.
Wanderlust magazine has more than 100,000 readers, 10 print editions per year and is considered one of the United Kingdom’s most influential travel magazines.
