Retablo Afroperuano at the Gran Teatro Nacional
As part of the measures being taken to combat COVID-19 and with the firm purpose of continuing to bring culture to Peru, through its virtual platforms, the Gran Teatro Nacional (GTN) (Grand National Theater) presents Retablo Afroperuano, a show inspired by the artistic and creative contributions of the Afro-Peruvian community.
Directed by Fabricio Varela Travesí, the show mixes dance with music and literature, recalling relevant historical events since the Africans arrived at Peruvian territory. Classics such as Toro mata, the tenth Guitarra llama cajón by Nicomedes Santa Cruz, the poem Negra soy by Victoria Santa Cruz, and the choreographies of Peru Negro, are some of the themes that are part of this beautiful proposal.
Do not miss the opportunity to enjoy, from the comfort of your home, this well-deserved tribute to the thousands of Afro-descendants who worked for a more noble and just Peru, using their spirituality, talent, courage and skill. The appointment is Wednesday, May 6 at 8:00 p. m., through the portal digital GTN en Vivo.
