Peru is the perfect destination for orchid-lovers because the country has a huge variety of species. The newest on the long list is the Lima Orchid, which was thought to be extinct for over a half a century until it was recently discovered to the south of the city of Lima.

Peru’s National Forest and Wildlife Service (SERFOR, for its acronym in Spanish) revealed the discovery when it presented its Hills of Lima Plant Guide, which contains a detailed description with maps and full color photos of the 134 species of wildflowers found on the 22 costal hills of Lima.
