Peru’s international tourism campaign won the Golden City Gates award for excellence in the International-Regions category at the Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB) fair in Berlin, Germany. The commercial “Peru, land of hidden treasures” was a big hit, thrilling the audience at the prestigious event.
Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism and Chair of PromPerú’s Board of Directors, Magali Silva, stated that the commercial was released internationally in Spain last January and was positively received. Using the tagline “Discover the you you never knew, discover Peru,” this cinematic audiovisual spot depicts a series of touching stories.
“This accolade not only recognizes our work, it is also a source of pride for each and every Peruvian because these awards are given to the best films, videos and shorts at this important event, attended by thousands of industry professionals from around the world,” the minister affirmed.
The film tells the story of a young man who, unused to trekking, decides to go off the beaten path to rediscover himself, and in doing so discovers the stunning Iquitos rainforest. It also features an older man who confronts his fears by paragliding over Lima. In yet another scene, we see a man dancing for the first time in Puno and lastly, a father who finds the perfect opportunity to escape the daily grind to explore the spectacular Ica desert with his family.
She went on to explain that delegates from 36 Peruvian businesses took part in the 2015 ITB tourism fair – considered one of the most important fairs on the German calendar. The fair, in its 49th year, ran until March 8th. “This year, eight Peruvian businesses were able to participate thanks to the partnership between Promperú and the Swiss Import Promotion Program (SIPPO). SIPPO is a program that selects local SMEs and helps them access the European market,” the minister stated.
