Peru´s cultural diversity and the development of its tourism industry led to seven nominations for the 2015 Latin America World Travel Awards, a prestigious recognition whose mission since its formation in 1993 has been to recognize and reward excellence in tourism on an international level. These nominations position the country as one of the most important tourist destinations in the region.
For this year´s awards, Peru is competing with other countries in a total of seven categories: Leading Cultural Destination, South America´s Leading Tourism Board (Promperú), leading Heritage Destination, Leading Culinary Destination, Leading Green Destination, Leading Adventure Tourism Destination and Leading Beach Destination (Máncora-Piura).
The capital of Peru was also nominated in four different categories. Lima is in the running for Leading Business Travel Destination, Leading City Break Destination, South America´s Leading Destination and Leading Meetings and Conference Destination. Furthermore, the Jorge Chávez International Airport has been entered to win Leading Airport in the Region.
