The endearing Paddington Bear, one of the most beloved characters in fiction, returns to the big screen in his third film, “Paddington in Peru” in cinemas now. In this exciting installment, the main character will travel to his homeland, Peru, to reunite with his aunt Lucy, who has mysteriously disappeared. Together with their adoptive family, the Browns, they will embark on an adventure that will take them on a quest to find El Dorado, the legendary city of gold.

Peru's cultural richness in Paddington in Peru
One of the highlights of this new release is the inclusion of Andean textiles, which add a layer of authenticity and celebrate Peru's cultural heritage.
Rainstick Trading, a brand dedicated to the sale of Peruvian textiles in England, was contacted by the production of the new film “Paddington in Peru” to integrate more than 100 handmade pieces in the setting. A series of beautiful rugs, cushions and blankets, handmade by Peruvian artisans, will be seen in the scenes that take place in Aunt Lucy's house.

Jennifer Wells, founder of Rainstick Trading, expressed her surprise and excitement when contacted by Marmalade Productions, the company behind the film. “The Paddington films are known for their fantastic decorations, so it will be fascinating to see how our products (Peruvian textiles) have been used in the new installment,” she commented.
Since 2015, Rainstick Trading has been importing these valuable textile pieces directly from Peru. Wells has even traveled to Peru to meet the talented artisans who bring each of these wonderful creations to life.

The textiles offered come mainly from the high Andean area of Juliaca, near Lake Titicaca, and are made by Peruvian families who have kept alive an ancestral tradition over the years.

Peruvian textiles are more than just decorative accessories, they are a living manifestation of the cultural heritage of this country. Each piece tells a story, woven by hands that have passed down their techniques from generation to generation.
