In the frame of the state of emergency and compulsory social isolation, the National Library of Peru presents an alternative to make quarantine an opportunity for learning and healthy entertainment. Thus, the cultural institution puts at your disposal a virtual program on the history of Peru that includes a tour of the pre-Hispanic, colonial and republican periods, and which will be transmitted through Facebook.
This free course is part of a cultural agenda -through digital platforms- that includes live conversations, readings and recommendations of literary works, forums on national cinema and activities for youth and children.
"From the National Library we impulse the understanding of reading as a fundamental right and access to quality information. In this sense, we have been developing a series of cultural contents”, said the institutional head of the National Library of Peru, Ezio Neyra, reaffirming the institution's commitment to continue spreading cultural and educational spaces for all citizens.
A luxury agenda
From this Monday May 18 to June 12, leading specialists and historians will provide an updated vision of the processes and events that have marked the future of Peru. Among the courses to be presented are:
- Inca urban economy: the role of the storage system in Inca cities, by Sofía Chacaltana Cortez
- Living and growing in Lima: indigenous children and youth in the 17th century, by Teresa Vergara Ormeño
- Trade and merchants throughout the 18th century and the conflicts caused by the warlike situations, by Cristina Ana Mazzeo
- Túpac Amaru II and the rebellions in colonial Peru, by Charles Walker
- About heroes and graves. The long process of building the heroes of Independence, by Carlota Casalino Sen
- The republican amazonian promise: a bicentennial reflection of the history of eastern Peru, by Juan Carlos La Serna.
