Earth Hour
It is probably the most important and well-known event against global warming. Earth Hour takes place from home, on the last Saturday of March at 8:30 pm, and its main objective is to involve people in climate change and raise awareness of the problems that have been going on in the world for many years.
Promoted and created by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), it had its first edition in 2007, in Sydney, Australia, when 2.2 million people turned off the lights in their homes in protest against climate change and to demand that the Government take the necessary actions to stop the destruction of the planet. 14 years later, Earth Hour set the record of adding 192 countries and territories in the world.
Earth Hour — through various local events — seeks to get more and more people to share their stories of why nature matters to them and to learn more about climate change and the loss of nature, the two major environmental problems facing the planet at the moment.

But that is not all, what the WWF is looking for with this event, is to make it a routine in the families of the world, and thus create the habit of turning off the lights when they are not in use, disconnecting electrical appliances once they are charged, or changing traditional bulbs for energy-saving ones, among other actions that help the goal of the movement.
In Peru, different activities are carried out on the various virtual platforms so that for 60 minutes the lights in the house are turned off and the electronic devices are switched off. But why is Peru's participation in this movement so important? The South American country is one of the 5 regions most vulnerable to climate change in the world.
For this reason, in Peru, various private and state organizations seek to raise awareness of how our actions affect the planet and seek to make people commit to living a sustainable lifestyle, and also influence world leaders to do the right thing. So, you already know, turn off your lights and help your planet!
