The festival of the spirituous grape

During the first weeks of March in warm Ica, 4 hours from Lima, the popular Grape Harvest Festival is held in honor of the world’s best wines and piscos produced by this region. For more than a week, parades with beauty queens, cockfights and exhibitions of the elegant Peruvian Paso horse are combined with grape stomping and musical events that bring the city’s Afro-Peruvian heritage to the forefront. Outdoor parties are typical, with dancing and singing on practically every street, attracting thousands of local and foreign visitors who come looking for guaranteed fun.
