Faith uniting nations
Every year, before Corpus Christi, in Cusco a pilgrimage is made to the Lord of Qoyllurit’i. This religious celebration brings together thousands of devotees from all parts of the world, who gather at Mount Sinakara to venerate the Tayta of the Snows, an image of Christ which adorns a rock.
Eight nations participate in this event and people come from villages throughout the region and country, in one of the most important expressions of devotion, faith and tradition in the Andes.

Recommendations
* Early in the morning visit the “Alacitas” market, where miniature versions of items and wishes are sold.
* Take incredible photos of the sunset at the base of the mountain.
* Accompany the pilgrims who climb the mountain to collect “holy” ice.
