Charming villages: 6 unique villages you can visit in Peru

Here we present some villages in Peru that are part of the "Charming Villages" proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, which seeks to highlight the natural and cultural attributes of localities that have great proposals for tourism since they offer authentic spaces that connect travelers with a unique environment.

In addition, with tourism to these villages, it is possible to promote their sustainable development to improve the quality of life of the local population, and thus preserve it for future generations.

Lamas, San Martín

In this town in the Peruvian Amazon, it is possible to enjoy experiential tourism experiences run by the native community Kechwa-Wayku.

Several of the knowledge of this original people are Cultural Heritage of the Nation, as they have managed to preserve their traditions intact, reflected in their clothing, activities, architecture, crafts, and more. It is worth mentioning that their clothing is one of the best known and most representative of the San Martín region.

During the visit you can also visit the Cordillera Escalera Regional Conservation Area, where the Chapawanki and Huacamaillo Falls are located; and the Lamas Castle, a medieval building 30 minutes from the city of Tarapoto.
