The city of Lima, Peru, has been recognized as the third Best Food Cities in the World in the Reader's Choice Awards count by international magazine Condé Nast Traveler. The publication, one of the most important in the field of travel and tourism, highlights the rich and diverse culinary offerings of the Peruvian capital.
"Surrounded by the Andes and the Amazon rainforest, combined with its Indigenous, African, and Asian influences, makes Lima a hotspot for incredible ingredients, boasting everything from fresh seafood to over 4,000 potato varieties," the prestigious publication highlights.

Condé Nast Traveler notes that Lima is acclaimed as the best gastronomic city in South America and that here you can find everything from colorful markets to innovative tasting menus.
“Ceviches (raw fish marinated in lime juice and spices) often steal the show. There is also the lomo saltado (sirloin steak sautéed with fried potatoes and a meat stew), and you can't miss the pisco sour, Lima's national cocktail. This is an award that Peru's capital city has won almost every year for more than a decade.
Peru has also been nominated as World's Leading Culinary Destination 2024, consolidating its excellence as a global gastronomic capital. In 2023, Peru won the award for "World's Leading Culinary Destination" at the World Travel Awards, this being the third consecutive year in which it receives this prestigious recognition. Since 2012, Peru has been awarded in this category with the exception of 2020.
